Income Protection Action Week (IPAW) is our annual online event, created to highlight the importance of income protection. Throughout the week, we host a series of sessions, from expert panels and real-life case studies to practical skills and honest industry conversations, all aimed at helping to start more meaningful conversations with clients about protecting their income
About IPAW 2026
What is IPAW?
IPAW is a chance to understand why income protection is so important, share top tips on positioning income protection and overcoming objections, to learn from peers and challenge your thinking around this vital product.
IPAW is hosted online and it is free to attend all sessions. It runs from 12-1pm each day from Monday 21st to Friday 25th September and offers up to 5 hours of unstructured CPD.
How to register for IPAW?
1. Add your details to our registration form
2. Select the days you’d like to attend (if you’re not sure, select them all and we’ll send you an invite for each day so you can choose nearer the time)
3. You’ll then receive a Zoom email and calendar invite for your registered days
4. On the day, click the Zoom link in the invite to watch live!
Who should attend IPAW?
IPAW is designed for advisers and industry professionals who want to deepen their understanding of income protection across the full arc of a client’s working life – from reaching younger clients at the start of their financial journey, through the complexities of career change and growing family responsibilities, to planning for a longer working life and retirement.
Throughout the week, you’ll hear real claims stories, explore the skills needed for more difficult conversations and consider what the future of advice looks like in an AI-enabled world. You’ll also gain insight into who remains underserved and why, helping you identify new opportunities to protect more clients and grow your business.

Monday 21st September
The Protection Gap We Don’t Talk About Enough: Young Clients and Income Risk
This session will set the scene looking at market trends, highlighting the need for financial resilience and exploring how to reach younger clients at the start of their financial journey, from their first job and moving out to rent or buy their first home.
Tuesday 22nd September
Moving Up, Moving on: Keeping Protection Relevant Through Career Change
A deep dive into the challenges of a changing career landscape, covering employer cover myths, self-employment gaps, and the gig economy. This session will also take an honest look at the claims consequences of misrepresentation and how advisers can protect clients through thorough disclosure.
Wednesday 23rd September
Life Gets Bigger: Protecting Income Through Change and Responsibility
This session will focus on how protection conversations must evolve as clients' lives grow more complex, exploring emotional triggers, value-added services, and the importance of inclusive advice for diverse and non-traditional family structures.
Thursday 24th September
When Life Doesn’t Go to Plan: Real Stories, Real Outcomes
A session considering how income protection can act as a lifeline when life takes an unexpected turn from illness and divorce to caring responsibilities. Today’s show will feature claims stories and a practical look at adviser skills for difficult conversations including guidance on reviewing cover when circumstances change.
Friday 25th September
Later, Longer, Leaner: Rethinking Income Protection of the Modern Working Life
IPAW will close with a forward-looking session on income protection as the foundation of long-term financial resilience and the connection between income protection and retirement planning. The session will also include a look at the future of advice in an AI-enabled world.
