Wisdom Wednesday

We’re building on our commitment to provide practical education with the launch of Wisdom Wednesday. Each month brings structured CPD through the Academy, alongside Airi, our AI-powered education assistant, with fresh learning shared across our channels every Wednesday.

Airi

Airi is the IPTF’s AI-powered education assistant, created to support advisers with clear, accessible learning. She helps build confidence in income protection through sharing bite-sized weekly learning, practical insights for advisers and fresh thinking on how protection can be smarter, broader and more inclusive. New videos are released every Wednesday across all our Social Media so make sure you’re following us!

IPTF Academy

Our academy documents provide structured, practical CPD aligned to each month’s theme. They offer context, analysis and clear adviser takeaways, using data and insight from IPTF research and market reports to explore how income protection and customer needs are evolving. Academy documents are released on the last Wednesday of each month so check back for the latest learning.

May - ASU

This month’s Wisdom Wednesday Academy guide explores ASU insurance, covering how it works, who it suits, and how it complements long-term income protection strategies. It brings together key considerations for advisers, from coverage and underwriting to claims processes, helping them integrate ASU into broader client protection conversations.

This month on Wisdom Wednesday, Airi turns the spotlight on ASU, examining where short-term protection fits within the wider IP conversation and why it matters. Not every client will suit traditional long-term cover, and across the series Airi unpacks how ASU can offer a more accessible route for those facing barriers around cost, underwriting or personal circumstances. The final video of the month brings it all together with practical guidance for advisers on structuring ASU policies and identifying when a shorter-term solution may be the right starting point for a client’s financial resilience.

April - Adviser Support

April’s Wisdom Wednesday Academy focuses on Adviser Support. At the IPTF, we believe that empowering advisers with accessible, high-quality educational tools creates better conversations, stronger client relationships, and improved financial resilience across the UK. This guide explores the range of IPTF insurer member resources designed to help advisers deepen their understanding of underwriting, clarify complex concepts, and deliver more holistic protection recommendations.

Airi introduces four of the IPTF’s practical adviser tools. Delving into each tool in short 1-minute clips, Airi helps advisers explore the tools, understand their purpose, and start using them with confidence.

March - Misrepresentation

This month’s Wisdom Wednesday Academy focuses on Misrepresentation. We explore what misrepresentation means, how it occurs, and the consequences it can have for clients, advisers, and the wider protection industry. This guide draws on insights from IPTF’s 7 Claims Story 3 – Misrepresentation Matters, led by Phil Deacon, and uses real case studies to illustrate the three main types of misrepresentation, innocent, careless, and deliberate, and the lessons that can be learned from each.

Airi looks at the full spectrum of misrepresentation, from innocent and careless through to deliberate, highlighting how each is defined and treated in practice. Using a real example from our 7 Claims Stories series, we see how fair, thorough assessment makes all the difference, and why context, intent and process matter so much in claims decisions. Understanding these nuances helps advisers have clearer disclosure conversations and ultimately support better client outcomes.

February - Digital and AI

This month’s Wisdom Wednesday Academy focuses on Digital and AI. We explore how financial advisers can use social platforms
to build visibility, trust, and credibility without it becoming a full-time job. Used with intention and authenticity, social media strengthens referral networks, supports business growth, and helps create lasting client relationships. These resources help advisers cut through the noise, use digital tools with purpose, and establish a confident, consistent presence online.

As part of our Digital and AI theme, Airi explores how the IPTF is harnessing AI to enhance education, insight and engagement across the protection industry, while also highlighting the growing role of social media in helping advisers build visibility, strengthen client conversations and create meaningful connections.

January - Education

January’s Wisdom Wednesday Academy focuses on Education. We explore how the modern Income Protection (IP) customer is evolving and what this means for advisers. This document delivers context, analysis, and adviser takeaways from the market report – Profile of an IP Customer – providing data-led insights into customer behaviours, preferences, and opportunities.

Airi delves into the following topics, bringing the Profile of an Income Protection Customer report to life with clear, bite-sized insights into how these factors shape modern income protection conversations.
