Education. Collaboration and Insight. It’s what we’re all about and it was important that our first face to face event embodied these values. Hosted by Zurich at the London offices, the event saw us celebrate the progress we have made in the first half of the year with our members and supporters.

Morning Live’s finance expert Iona Bain joined us to discuss consumer appetite and how we might reach out to consumers via the mainstream media to raise the profile of income protection (hint, it’s possible and there’s an appetite for insight from producers).

We also heard from members NMG who provided an overview of market trends and expectations for the coming months.

In true IPTF style, our first event was focus on actions and not just talking, and our round robin exercise had people out of their seats and sharing ideas with industry peers on topics as diverse as innovation, customers, adviser training and future focus.

As our first event came to a close, we were reminded of the humanity of protection with a real life case story from Phil Jeynes who shared his story as a claimant after a bowel cancer diagnosis. Managing to inspire the audience whilst imparting a very important reminder to act on health concerns promptly as it could be the difference between life and death.

A productive afternoon spent with industry peers, sharing ideas on how to drive the market forward and encourage growth means although this was our first event, it won’t be our last!
